CHAPTER 23 PREVIEW
One of my favorite travel destinations ever has to be Brasil (I'm spelling it the way they do). It is one of the most amazing places I've ever been to. Despite its huge modern cities like Sao Palo and Rio, so much of it is still comprised of unspoiled nature that truly defies one's imagination. The sea, the mountains, the lush vegetation, the sun, the stars and especially the people's spirit make it a place all its very own.
I received an email off my website www.Levtron.com from a fan and solid musician named Chico Preto. He was the bassist and business manager for a fine young guitarist and vocalist named Fernando Noronha. They had a Blues-Bock band called Black Soul based in Porto Allegre, Brasil. They had admired my work with Smokin' Joe Kubek and Little Jimmy King and wanted me to produce and play on Fernando's next record. We worked out a nice deal for us all, and in short order I was on my merry way.
I have to admit, it was a little scary going so far away alone to this unchartered territory, where I'd never been before. I guess it just seemed a little too exotic and unknown for my American comfort level. That, however, also made it exciting as well. I left Benny my vital information, will, cash and directions in a sealed envelope in case I didn't make it back. I foolishly but truly envisioned myself going into a wild jungle of many dangerous unknowns and was more than a little nervous. It was wild alright, but hardly a jungle. Porto Allegre is a very nice, sophisticated and modern South American city that I quickly grew to love and will always remember fondly.
